The constantly rising prices have a significant impact on transport, whether by land, air or sea.

The considerable increase in fuel prices no longer allows service providers to provide long-term offers or to travel the roads with a half-empty truck, at the risk of making a loss. When carriers send a bid for a transport and the transport is carried out a week later, the price per liter has increased by a few cents, or even a few dozen, and the carrier’s margin is not sufficient to pay for this difference.

Airlines are not left out. After having to revise flight plans to avoid countries at war, the fuel surcharge is also becoming a problem for airlines, which is sometimes increasing to more than one franc per kilo. Some companies are already expecting slowdowns and losses of several millions.

The maritime world is not spared either. While several Russian ports are no longer served and Northern European ports are congested, the entire shipping industry is affected by the price increase. Sometimes forced to take longer detours or wait before reaching a port, ships are also using more fuel, even though it is more expensive.

As there are currently no short-term solutions, various countries have been asked about the release of financial aid or what auxiliary means are available. Decisions are expected to be made in the next few days.

Prices are likely to fluctuate over the next few weeks.

Another impact on road traffic is the lack of personnel. The road transport sector is staffed by people from Eastern European countries. As most of them are at a standstill, this reflects the lack of human resources in the sector. This has an impact on the whole logistic chain.

In spite of this particular situation, ATM continues, as usual, to look for the most adapted solutions for your transports.
