First of all, ATM is proud to announce that unlike some we have not interrupted our shipments to China and have found solutions to continue to do so.
The coronavirus outbreak still continue to have an important impact on supply chains, from reduction of air capacity to ocean reefer surcharges and dozens of blank sailings. Indeed, the majority of boats started their voyage in China, and the shipping companies withdrawn their fleet, which remains off Singapore.
Most of offices and factories in China re-open this week, but are unlikely to resume normal operations before three or four weeks.
With these reopening, we may expect surcharges from ocean carriers, to meet renewed demand.
The effects of this outbreak rippling across the worldwide transportation industry also include a growing shortage of containers that is expected to grow next month. In China, small encouraging signs of trucking recovery are slowly emerging. However, ground operations aren’t expected to recover until mid-March.
